We offer Educational Opportunities: There is no substitute for hands-on experience and interns at Lake Divide will gain plenty! This is an excellent opportunity for someone considering farming as a career because it offers involvement and discussion of all aspects of the business as well as a chance to experience the cadence of the growing season. Interns will frequently work directly with the farm owner/operators Helen and Jim, providing a chance for questions and discussion.
Interns will have access to all educational materials in our library and are invited to take an active role in their farm education by creating a wishlist of topics they would like to cover. We will do our best to foster an in-depth understanding of selected topics through direct experience and by providing relevant materials and resources.
Throughout the season the farm crew will have the opportunity to go on tours of different agricultural businesses in the area. At the end of the season, interns will be invited to participate in a season-end review of the farm where we will discuss successes and failures and lay groundwork for changes to be made for the following year.
